Since the wonderful success of the anthology ‘Voices from the Cave,’, funded by the Mid-West Regional Drugs and Alcohol Forum (MWRDAF); the Limerick Writers’ Centre in partnership have looked for ways to support the obvious talent of the contributors. MWRDAF have sought ways to give those contributors an opportunity to develop as writers and express themselves through poetry and prose.
The Limerick Writers’ Centre and MWRDAF, are pleased to announce ‘Voices’ a Creative Writing Course for those affected in any way by drug and alcohol abuse and related issues. This course is intended to give the participants validation of their work and confidence in their abilities. It will explore new paths in the creative imagination of each individual. The hands-on facilitator, Ron Carey, will aim to bring the level of writing of all participants to the publication standard of magazines, journals, anthologies and to begin longer term objectives of working towards publishing a collection of poetry, short stories, a novel or a book of non-fiction.
Two courses (one for poetry and one for prose/fiction) will run consecutively from Sat 21st Oct to Sat 18th Nov 2017.
If you or if you know of anyone who might benefit from this course, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org in the first instance.
The courses are subsidised by the MWRDAF but a registration fee of €25 is required from participants. Places are limited and booking is essential.
After the course, all the participants will showcase their best work at an event organised by the Limerick Writers’ Centre and the MWRDAF where they will be given Limerick Writers’ Centre, Certificates of Achievement, presented by the head of MWRDAF. Their work will also be published in the new edition of ‘Voices’ anthology in 2018.
